About this converter
Audio only, at a fraction of the size
A talk, a lecture or an interview recorded as video is mostly picture data you do not need. Taking just the audio typically cuts the file to a tenth of its size, which makes it practical to keep on a phone and to listen to without watching.
Choosing a bitrate
192 kbps is the sensible default and is transparent for speech and most music. 320 kbps is for music you care about on good headphones. 128 kbps halves the size again and is fine for a podcast or a recorded meeting. The original audio quality sets the ceiling: converting a quiet phone recording at 320 kbps makes a big file, not a better one.
MP4 to MP3: common questions
Does the video quality matter?
Only the audio track is read, so picture resolution is irrelevant. What matters is the quality of the audio in the source file.
Can I convert several videos at once?
Yes. Add up to 20 videos per job and each becomes its own MP3, with a combined ZIP download offered at the end.
Is there a length limit?
Files up to 100 MB are accepted. Processing uses your device memory and may be slow for long recordings. Keep this tab open; jobs stop after ten minutes. Trim large recordings first.
Is this legal?
Converting a file you own or have the right to use is fine. Extracting audio from material you do not have rights to is not, and that is on you rather than on the format.
