The five things people do to a PDF
A PDF arrives and it is either too big to send, locked when it needs editing, one file when it should be several, several when it should be one, or a document when what you need is an image. Those five problems are the five tools on this page. Nothing here modifies your original: every job writes a new file and leaves the source alone.
Why PDF is worth the trouble
A PDF carries its own fonts, layout and page geometry, which is why it looks identical on a phone, a laptop and a printer. That fidelity is also why editing one is awkward: the file describes where each character sits rather than how the sentence flows. Converting to Word rebuilds that flow, which is the right move for editing and the wrong one for archiving.
PDF conversion: common questions
Which PDF tool do I need?
Use PDF to JPG for page images, Merge PDF to combine files, Split PDF to extract pages, or PDF to Text for selectable text. PDF to Word and Compress PDF are not available yet.
Do these tools work on scanned PDFs?
Merging, splitting and rendering work on scanned PDFs. PDF to Text extracts existing text; it does not perform optical character recognition. Compression and Word conversion are not available yet.
Will a password protected PDF work?
No. An encrypted PDF cannot be read without its password, so the job stops and tells you which file is locked. Remove the password in your PDF reader first.
