Privacy policy
The short version: available converters process files on your device. Server conversion and Google Drive import are not connected. There are no accounts or advertising trackers in this build.
1. Files you convert in your browser
23 of our 27 tools run entirely on your own device. The page reads the file you select using standard browser features, converts it, and hands the result back to you. Nothing is transmitted to us or to anyone else, no copy exists outside your computer, and we have no way to see, store or recover the file. These tools are labelled Runs in your browser in their panel, and do not send your file to a conversion server. Keep your connection until the conversion libraries have loaded on first use.
2. Files you send to our conversion server
The remaining 4 converters are not available yet. Their pages are labelled Not available yet, and they do not upload, store or process files. All currently available conversions run inside your browser.
3. What we log
Our web server keeps standard access logs: the page requested, a timestamp, the HTTP status, the browser user agent string and an IP address. These exist to keep the service running and to spot abuse, they are not linked to any file you converted, and are managed by the server log rotation settings. We do not build profiles, we do not fingerprint devices, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.
4. Cookies and third parties
FileFormatLab sets no tracking cookies and shows no cookie consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to. There is no analytics service, no social widget and no font loaded from another company. Every script and style the page needs comes from this domain. That is unusual and deliberate: every third party script on a page is another party that gets to watch you.
Google Drive import is not available yet and loads no Google code.
5. Google Drive import
Google Drive import is not available yet. The site does not load the Google picker or request access to your Drive. Download a file to your device, then use Choose Files.
6. No accounts
There is nothing to sign up for. We do not collect your name, your email address or a password, which means there is no account database to breach and no history of your conversions to hand over to anyone. If you email us, that email is a normal email and is kept only as long as needed to answer it.
7. Children
The service is a general purpose utility and is not directed at children. We collect no personal information from anyone directly.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no accounts and no file contents, there is normally nothing for us to export or erase on request. If you believe we hold something relating to you, write to hello@fileformatlab.com and we will look and tell you honestly.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly weaken the deletion window or add a tracker without saying so on this page.
